Disappearing Island is fundamentally a tool to build trans power. We reject trans politics which separate our struggles from the masses of people who are subject to violence at the hands of racist and transphobic police and prisons. Our organizing focuses on building resources and connecting with mutual aid networks that serve incarcerated people while addressing the neglect and ignorance the broader LGBTQ holds towards our incarcerated siblings.
We are organizing a conference and seeking collaborators from the movement to shut down Rikers, jail support, abolitionist organizations, trans organizations, mutual aid networks and all people who are interested in building power and connecting struggles against this violent empire.
